꩜ ~~~~~

angie caracol is a 30 year old lady originating from the southern ontario city of kingston, but now lives in a village called gingham in rural central ontario. currently she lives in a loft apartment above some weird antique store on the main street of gingham. she works at the post office in the neighbouring town where she most frequently does mail delivery.

angie tends to completely avoid interacting with people whenever possible, although thats not to say she's an unpleasant person. she's extremely sweet and gentle and she seems to never have any bad opinions about anything or anyone, and she's somehow always able to find some small glimpse of hope in any bad situation. she's incredibly aware of other people's emotions and often takes in upon herself to lighten the mood, although that tends to just leave her constantly stressed out in group scenarios. if she wasnt so meek she'd be a great mediator, but the moment any genuine conflict ever comes to she immediately shrinks away. she's really only good at being a people pleaser and putting other people's needs very very very *very* far ahead of her own.
she tries very hard to be as likeable as possible as she's struggled her whole life with making and keeping friends. she assumes its mainly due to the fact that she's pretty bad at holding conversations, but her constant anxiety has her convinced its every single aspect of her that's unsettling. somehow most people get the impression that shes generally a pretty laid back person due to her willingness to let other people make the decisions. thats what she wants you to think, because that couldnt be any further from the truth. it doesnt take a genius to notice her constantly fidgeting with her hands.

despite such apprehensiveness, she isn't anywhere near as depressed as she used to be. during her mid 20s she went through a huge slump that was mainly caused by gender dysphoria and deep dissatisfaction with the state of her life at the time. she almost didnt get through it, but she did, and making it out alive is the main reason why she pushes so hard to find positivity in everything now. despite being constantly impaired by anxiety these days, going through such a struggle and solving it all for herself untimately concluded in her being a much happier person. shes still not done with this journey of self discovery, obviously, but will anyone ever be? this anxiety disorder of hers has always been pushing her around but only flared up within the past few years mainly due to her self image, now having to do with living her life as a woman.

appearance

angie is a very small lady - shes very short and rather thin. her hair almost takes up more space than her body does. she has very long and voluminous 3a curls which she's been growing out for years - its naturally black and dying it all red took an insanely long time to do. she has a relatively round face, she has very big eyes and a wide nose with a small stud in her right nostril.
her skin is a warm brown that seems to glow in the sunlight - she takes good care of her skin and its very smooth. on her left shoulder and right hip she has two large tattoos of the sun. nobody ever really sees the one on her hip.
she has been on hormone replacement therapy for a little over a year, so her breasts are pretty small and she doesnt have much in terms of curves. however, her face has always been pretty feminine for her whole life, and her short height works well in her favour as well. she doesnt usually wear much makeup aside from long fake lashes and some teal eyeshadow.

in terms of her fashion sense, she loves loose-fitting flowy clothing made of thinner material, in muted or desaturated colours. she is quite literally never seen without any jewelery on, she's usually wearing a necklace or two along with a bunch of bangles and rings. she also does her own nails, which she keeps long and painted a dark reddish-brown.

her voice is quite flat and you really cannot tell what emotion shes feeling at all just by listening to the tone. shes relatively soft spoken and doesnt really feminize her voice at all either (entirely by choice). she was raised speaking both english and spanish at home so she is completely fluent in both!
(she sounds like tina belcher but a little more gentle *smile*)

relationships

stef
stef and angie have been best friends for almost as long as angie has lived in gingham. she's really quite honoured that stef considers her to be his best friend since he knows so many people. they are a bit of an odd duo with stef being so outgoing and angie being so reclusive but their opposing personalities benefit each other well. they have much more in common than you'd expect.
angie has never really had a genuine close friend before him and she's lived a very lonely life, so in a way having such a close friend that's so outgoing almost feels like a reward to her. they love spending as much time together as they can - stef likes to buy a bunch of useless crap online in the hopes that angie will be the one to deliver it to him, and then they hang out together on most of angie's days off. they are the textbook definition of best friends ♡

vern
angie is still to this day somewhat off-put by vern, but she really tries not to show it. she can tell he's quite deeply troubled by something but doesnt feel as though she's close enough at all to him (or germ) for it to be appropriate to try to get him to open up to her. she's not very good at reading his behaviour but she can at least tell he appreciates when she's around as he tends to talk to her unprompted more than he does to stef. maybe someday she can comfort him. or maybe its none of her business and she should stop thinking about it. its just hard to ignore your friend's clearly mentally ill little brother, especially if said friend brings him everywhere...

germ
angie considers germ to be a good friend of hers, but it would be a lie to say he didnt intimidate her quite a bit. theyre never really alone so its hard to gauge how exactly they feel about the other. if it werent for stef they'd definitely never speak to each other.
angie does enjoy having conversations with germ but she feels a little like she has to walk on eggshells every time she speaks to him. he's never been mean to her but angie has it stuck in her mind that he's waiting for an opportunity to turn on her. oh well.

backstory (in a nutshell)

angie realized she was transgender at around 21 years old, and chose to repress it, because she was working as a line cook in this unclean chain restaurant where all the staff in the kitchen were dudes who sucked. she hated working there and yet she stayed there right up until she moved away because the pay was alright and she was too scared to start new anywhere else. theres really no point in going into depth about this era of her life. she barely even remembers it anyway. her parents werent bad people, but they werent exactly the most present either hence why despite living with and being financially supported by them, angie never wound up speaking to them about anything.

angie had been living with her parents until she was 25, and the only reason she left was because her older brother gabriel reached out to her to say that he was moving out of his apartment in gingham and he wanted to offer to transfer the lease to her. she didnt want to but her mom basically told her she had to. so be it.
moving to gingham was very scary and to be completely honest angie thought there was no way this was going to go anywhere and she was intending on ending it once gabriel left her behind. she didnt apply for a new job before moving or anything.
thankfully gabriel didnt leave for a while. he actually wound up hanging around for about a month and a half after angie moved in because he was moving all the way across the country and was having ton of issues with the movers he hired. (ultimately he wound up giving angie literally all his furniture because he decided it wasnt worth the struggle.) as to not drain her poor brother's money due to her decisions she scrambled to find a job and play it off like she had one lined up the entire time.

within that month and a half of living with gabriel she came to the conclusion that she was not! going to do something drastic and that this was her opportunity to start her life completely anew. she and gabriel had a lot of long conversations. she's much, much better now.

to this day gabriel is still the only person in her whole family that she's out to. she still goes to family holidays every year like normal. somehow her appearance is never questioned so she never says anything. she wouldnt even be shunned or anything, she just doesnt think its necessary. such is life.
