2stonogi
this site is not suitable for those under the age of 17. thank you.
2stonogi is, at its core, a story about mental illness
its about human consciousness , existentialism , suicidal ideation , and despite everything , love
~~~~~
vern stonoga is a 16 year old plagued by never-ending reincarnation. he and his brother have lived millions of lives together and yet he is the one stuck dwelling on everything while his brother goes on materialistically and carelessly.
vern is envious of everyone who will be given a peaceful release into nothingness once their human life is over. he's even envious of his own brother for the simple fact that he is actually able to live in the moment and forget.
having a mind this complex is both the cause of his suffering and exactly what can help him come to peace with everything.
one day, everything will be okay
characters
a group of close knit artists
consisting of brothers germ and vern, germ's boyfriend stef, and stef's best friend angie
somewhat of an unconventional group personality-wise, though in small towns like this its only natural that the only queer people around would gravitate towards one another
꩜꩜꩜
eerie, morose, and self aware to the
point of mental disturbance
sophisticated but abrasive,
unsettlingly strange
cheerful, mindless, and rather
short tempered
sweet and apprehensive,
quite the pushover
setting
2stonogi takes place in a small town named gingham in rural central ontario.
the town has a population of ~1000, and is surrounded by tall, towering pine trees. the sky turns red every evening in the summer as the sun sets. it is a quiet and somber town.
the only chain stores in the town are the grocery store and the liquor store. the grocery store was built relatively recently at that, and the prices are high.
a 20 minute drive northwest will get you to a much bigger town, with a population of just under 10000. many people who live in gingham have jobs over there (angie, for example, works at their post office), or go there for cheaper gas or groceries. in case of emergency services being needed, they’d be coming from there. gingham is relatively isolated in this regard.
the main attraction of gingham (aside from the nature) is the uncharacteristically large church. it is beautifully built, and is assumed to be over 300 years old. while it is on the edge of the town surrounded by forest, the town seems to have been built entirely around it. people from neighbouring towns come to this church due to its magnificence, and every sunday morning the streets of gingham are covered in parked cars for this exact reason.
its understandable, as the church features an enormous pipe organ integrated in the building and the windows are all stained glass art. you do not even have to be in the church to enjoy the organ, as it can be heard throughout the entire town when it is played. this is something the residents of the town really appreciate.
the story takes place in the summer, sometime in the 21st century.
